Payroll Manager Michael Blacklock plunged into the world’s biggest fundraising swim on the 10th April earlier this month, in a bid to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Michael alongside 17,000 swimmers took part in the event across 580 pools nationwide, raising an estimated £630,000 for the very worthy charity.
Michael has done fantastically well over the past few months and has kept up with his vigorous training regime in his local pool, as a result Michael successfully completed the 5 kilometre challenge in 2 hours and 20 minutes!
‘I’m ecstatic to have raised £600 for the Maria Curie Nurses as they do such honourable work in the community. Thank you to all of those who sponsored me!’
The thought of Michael donning his speedo’s for charity was enough for friends, family and colleagues to dig deep and give generous donations for such a great cause.
All monies raised will help enable local Marie Curie Nurses to provide free care at home to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses.
