Update Service paves the way for new simplified CRB checks. You may already be aware, that the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) have merged into the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). - CRB Disclosures are now called DBS checks.
Following the merger, the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) are introducing a new facility called the ‘Update Service’, which will allow candidates to view and update their DBS status certificate online, as of the 17th June, 2013.
When you next apply for a DBS Check you will be given the option to subscribe to the ‘Update Service’ which, for a small annual fee of just £13, allows you to update your details online as regularly and as quickly as you require. – Saving you a lot of time and money!
Once you have subscribed to the ‘Update Service’, you may never have to complete or pay for another DBS Check again!
Please be aware that DBS will now issue a single Disclosure Certificate to applicants only, employers will simply need to log in and view your DBS Status Certificate online, once given your permission to do so.
After the 17th June 3013, when you next apply for a DBS Check, you will be able to subscribe and log in to the Update Service. For further information please visit http://www.gov.uk/dbs
We’re sure you’ll all agree that this is great news for both candidates and employers, and will not only simplify but revolutionise the whole Disclosure application process.
