Here at Mediplacements we like to celebrate the hard work that our locums put into their professions and this month we have the pleasure of recognising Jackie, a registered Mental Health Nurse from Sussex.
Jackie has been described by our Mental Health Recruitment Consultant Simon as lovely lady and an absolutely pleasure. She has taken on last minute shifts and even out of her locality just to help out.
He also commented, ‘She has proved so popular with the wards that she has worked on that they now call and specifically ask to book her’.
Get to know more about Jackie,
Personal achievements within the role?
I think that it is the belief that once you have finished your shift you know that you have done the best you possibly can both professionally and personally. Knowing that you have made that small difference to someone’s life who is going through a difficult time makes you feel that for today, you have done something worthwhile.
What do you enjoy about being a locum?
I suppose the freedom of choosing the times and days you want to work. If it is sunny out there I know that I can take time off! I choose my times rather than my employer choosing them for me.
Most memorable moment within your career?
Far too many to mention!!! Working in mental health has made me laugh so hard but on the other hand it has also on occasions made me very sad. The extremes of human nature are never very far away when working in this field.
If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 items would you take?
1.) A damn good boat to get off the island!!!
2.) An unsinkable lilo
3.) And a Jack Daniels and coke for that cocktail hour!
