Locum of the Month

Friday 10th August 2012

Each month Mediplacements would like to recognise one of our locums for their personal achievement and commitment to the Healthcare service!

Name: Patrick Hudson

Profession: Cardiac Physiologist

Where are you from? Brixham, Devon, England

Current position? Locum Cardiac Physiologist

What do you enjoy about your job?
I enjoy meeting new people and the challenge of working in busy departments as part of a multi-disciplined team. The role of a locum allows me to experience many different management styles and this allows me to become a more useful and dynamic team member.....The money isn’t bad either!

Personal achievements within your role?
I am always pleased when I am able to help diagnose conditions whilst performing echocardiograms. Knowing that I have got as much information as I possibly can so that the patient can then go on to receive the correct treatment is always something I take home with me at the end of the day. I feel like I make a difference.

How do you unwind from work?
I like to let off steam by going to the gym or maybe even hit a few balls at the driving range. I’m currently debating on writing a book in my spare time. I also like to socialise with friends and work colleagues. I also like to go shopping and have an extensive collection of sock suspenders.

If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 items would you take?
1.) Portable solar powered dvd player with the entire series of peep show (built into the dvd player).
2.) A solar powered smoothie maker.
3.) A notepad and pen to document my thoughts and ramblings till my eventual rescue / slow decline to insanity.
