Jeans for Genes BMS Fundraising Event

Wednesday 12th October 2011

16 Disciplines - 16 Charities - Each month members of The Placement Group will be raising money for charities specific to their Recruitment Specialties.

This month the Biomedical Science team organised an office fundraiser to co-inside with the Annual ‘Jeans for Genes Day’ which raises money for Genetic Disorders UK.

Fortunately, the ‘Jeans for Genes Day 2011’ was heavily publicised and received a great deal of support from high profile sponsors, university associations and celebrity patrons all raising awareness for the cause. The national event held on Friday was a great success, which saw office workers, firemen, school children and charitable people across the county get involved!

With all monies raised being used to fund the care and support of children with genetic disorders and fund research into genetics and the development of effective treatments & cures, its no wonder the event received so much generosity, enthusiasm and support!

Individually, genetic disorders are rare but together they affect 1 in 25 children born in the UK, that's more than 30,000 babies each year. – For this reason, the charity make it their mission to raise awareness and promote understanding of what it means to be affected by a genetic disorder, working towards building a better future for all those affected!

Staff at The Placement Group managed to raise just shy of a hundred pounds by donning their denims!
Well done team, every little helps!
