Due to national shortages and recruitment pressures to recruit nursing staff locally; Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust decided to look further afield and engage the services of The Placement Group’s International Resourcing Division to help recruit a number of Band 5 nurses for their Medical/Surgical wards. The Placement Group were appointed by the Trust because we’ve continuingly demonstrated a proven ability to deliver high quality candidates from overseas.
Phase one of the project was delivered in March 2014, when 19 Spanish nurses commenced work at the Trust after interviews were conducted in Spain by 3 Trust representatives and our international Project Manager.
The second phase of the project has now been completed, with an additional 16 Nurses commencing their induction at the Trust on 19 May, having arrived safely to the UK from Cyprus. Again, the recruitment process involved interviews conducted in Cyprus by 3 senior staff members from the Trust accompanied by our Project Manager.
In total, 35 Band 5 Nurses have been recruited from overseas for Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh and a spokesperson for the Trust commented that they were delighted with the success of the campaign.
Our international recruitment team have been working with several other Trusts over the past few months, having recently recruited a further 29 Nurses from Greece and Italy who arrived to commence induction on the 12th May for United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust. These Nurses have joined 66 Nurses, who have already commenced at the Trust after being recruited from Portugal, Spain and Greece early in 2014. 16 Italian Nurses arrived from Italy on the 9th May, to commence employment for Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and 12 Spanish Nurses commenced employment with Hinchingbrooke Health Care NHS Trust.
Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust recently conducted two recruitment events, conducting interviews for Band 5 Nurses in Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal. Barts Health NHS Trust arrived back from Spain and Italy in early May after conducting interviews for Nurses to work within ACCU.
Our international recruitment campaigns are led by our international recruitment division to address the key staff shortages in areas identified within a number of hospitals throughout the UK.
