Audiologist Turned Marathon Runner for Sense

Wednesday 21st October 2015

Emma, who is a Lead Paediatric Audiologist in Harlow is extremely passionate about her job. Her dedication and drive to make a difference to people’s lives has led her to embark on a mission to run in Virgin’s London Marathon 2016 in order to raise money for Sense, a charity close to Emma’s heart.

‘I have worked in Audiology for a long time, working with both hearing impaired adults and children and seen the difficulties they face. It’s why I am so proud to have the opportunity to run for a charity that supports their needs.’

Sense is a national charity that supports children and adults who are deafblind or have sensory impairments to develop their talents and help them to be independent. To run in aid of the charity Emma has pledged to raise an incredible £1,500 and to help reach this she has organised a few events. The first is Afternoon Tea on 24th October 2015 at Cooks Spinney School in Harlow, Essex.

‘We have delicious cakes and a raffle with some amazing prizes that have been donated by companies including Mediplacements. Everyone is very much welcome to come join us’ Says Emma. So why not pop along from 1-4pm to show your support and enjoy a delightful afternoon of treats.

This aside, Emma still has to squeeze in as much training time as possible and keep herself motivated for her biggest challenge yet. To do this she has entered herself into a race nearly every month of at least 10k until the marathon.
