Mediplacements are looking to recruit a band 6 Speech and Language Therapist for a locum position with our client in Londonderry.

The pay for this position is £23-£28 per hour, and we are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible for an ongoing duration.

Successful candidates must be HCPC registered.

JOB SUMMARY
The post-holder will provide assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders for this specialist adult caseload to achieve well-being outcomes using a collaborative framework.
The post-holder will be required to provide specialist advice, guidance, supervision and clinical support to band 5 SLT colleagues, Technical Instructors, SLT students and others working with the post-holder.
The post-holder will provide second opinions to SLTs and those from other professions.
The post-holder will participate in research, development and audit activities in specialist area.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The post holder will:
Be responsible for the provision of a high quality Speech and Language Therapy service to a specialist caseload including:
o Assessment, diagnosis and prognosis
o Formulation of individual treatment plans and outcome measures
o Writing assessment, summary and discharge reports
o Onward referrals to other professionals as required
o Attendance at case conferences/relevant meetings
o Contribution to the relevant statutory processes
Liaise closely with clients, families and carers to provide specialist advice and support regarding their speech, language, communication, eating and drinking difficulties to ensure best outcomes
Work collaboratively and liaise with other relevant Health Service colleagues and all appropriate personnel working in statutory and non-statutory organisations
Plan, design and implement innovative and evidence based models of intervention and service delivery
Highlight areas of potential inefficiency to senior colleagues within the Department and propose solutions
Implement policies and proposes change for specialist area
Build and maintain relationships and contribute to collaboration on projects relating to specialist caseload
Identify successful change strategies and processes
Interpret and compare a complex range of options for treatment of specialist caseload
Contribute to interpretation of future impact of decisions for specialist caseload
Review the effectiveness of alternative treatment options and approaches for a specialist caseload/supervisees caseload
Plan and manage identified caseload in consultation with senior SLT
Utilise systems to manage own and others time and workload effectively.
Be flexible to demands of the specialist clinical service and the needs of the whole adult SLT service and provide clinical cover in the Trust as directed by Lead Clinician/Head of Service.
