Mediplacements are looking to recruit a band 7 Speech and Language Therapist for a locum position with our client in London.

The pay for this position is £27-£35 per hour, and we are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible for an ongoing duration.

Job Summary: At a Highly Specialist level to assess, develop, treat and discharge adult clients referred with communication and swallowing difficulties within the Domiciliary Community and Croydon University Hospital Departments. The main focus of this post is to serve patients who need to be seen in their home setting. To work as a member of the team, to provide an efficient, effective and co-ordinated Speech and Language Therapy Service.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To work in accordance with the Trust Consent to Treatment Policy.
2. At a Highly Specialist level, to assess, develop and implement Speech and Language Therapy Treatment for Adult clients with communication and swallowing difficulties.
3. To employ highly specialist interventions for patients/clients and carers who have severe disability and/or terminal illness on a daily basis; and evaluate outcomes.
4. To write reports reflecting specialist knowledge according to the standards of the Department and distribute these accordingly.
5. To provide advice and training to others regarding the management and care of patients/clients with communication and/or feeding and swallowing difficulties.
6. To demonstrate good negotiation skills across a range of issues, including case management in complex cases.
7. To independently run a videofluoroscopy clinic, interpreting results and report writing.
8. To demonstrate clinical effectiveness by use of evidence based practice and outcome measures, care plans and reviews with clients.
9. To plan, run and evaluate client and carer groups independently, in accordance with clinical need.
10. To assess and manage the swallowing and communication needs of clients with the access to support from the Professional Lead for Adult Speech and Language Therapy - Adults.
11. To demonstrate skills in dealing with complex issues to generate appropriate strategies for caseload management.
12. To refer to Principal/Co-ordinator Speech and Language Therapists during the course of individual case management, to access knowledge or advice as appropriate.
13. To refer to and liaise with other agencies/professionals as required.
14. To attend case conferences and other client based meetings as appropriate.

Successful candidates must be HCPC registered.
