Mediplacements are looking to recruit a band 6 Speech and Language Therapist for a locum position with our client in London.
The pay for this position is £23-£28 per hour, and we are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible for an ongoing duration.
JOB SUMMARY
At a highly specialist level, to assess, diagnose, treat and discharge children/young people referred with speech, language, communication and eating & drinking problems
To work as a member of the Early Years, Primary, Secondary and Dysfluency Teams to provide an efficient, effective and co-ordinated Speech and Language Therapy Service;
To take a lead role for the dysfluency team, overseeing the caseload and providing clinical support for team members.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Client care
1. To work in accordance with Croydon Health Services Consent to Treatment policy;
2. To work in accordance with the Gascoigne Balanced Model and Malcomess Care Aims;
3. To provide highly specialist assessment, clinical diagnosis, treatment and management of
speech, language and communication needs in children, specifically children who stammer.
4. To develop and implement highly specialist speech and language therapy treatment to children with dysfluency;
5. To evaluate outcomes;
6. To write reports reflecting specialist knowledge, according to the standards of the Service, and to distribute these accordingly;
7. To refer to and liaise with other professionals and voluntary agencies involved with clients;
8. To provide supervision, advice and training to others regarding the management and care of clients with communication and eating and swallowing difficulties;
9. To ensure close inter-disciplinary working, including with families and the wider workforce, and to maintain good liaison with parents and related professionals;
10. To provide programmes for the continuation of treatment, as appropriate;
11. To demonstrate good negotiation skills across a range of issues;
12. To negotiate with others around case management in complex cases;
13. To demonstrate clinical effectiveness by use of evidence-based practice, outcome measures, care plans and reviews with clients;
14. To demonstrate skills in dealing with complex issues, to generate appropriate strategies for caseload management;
15. To attend Annual Reviews, parents' evenings, case conferences and other client-related meetings, as appropriate;
16. To plan, run and evaluate client/parent groups in accordance with clinical needs.
